Middlesbrough Works

Middlesbrough Works

Middlesbrough Works is a multi-agency sub group of the ‘Local Economy’ Action Group. It was formed in 2006 to undertake an impartial coordinating role and to move forward priorities relating to Economic Vitality; specifically those issues pertaining to worklessness, full and sustained employment and to forge and maintain links with local, regional and sub-regional partners who are working towards similar aims and objectives.

The Network of Intermediaries (NOI), established in February 2001 by Middlesbrough Council, comprises of practitioners from over 100 organisations that connect people to jobs and offer training, advice and guidance to develop skills and raise achievement. The growing network brings organisations together to share best practice and disseminate information relating to employment and training for the benefit of Middlesbrough residents. The NOI Reference Group, set up to act as an intermediary between Middlesbrough Works and the NOI wider group, is a multi-agency reference group of Middlesbrough Works. The membership is nominated and elected by the wider NOI Network. The group meets quarterly and is chaired by an Independent Facilitator.

The Neighbourhood Employment Gateway (NEG) Steering Group, launched in 2008, is a multi-agency group established to guide the delivery of the Neighbourhood Employment Gateway project, which aims to facilitate partnership working to ensure the delivery of a quality service to local residents. The group meets on a monthly basis and is usually facilitated and chaired by representatives of Middlesbrough Council.

The three groups detailed above have played their part in developing and implementing many employability initiatives and co-ordinating the work of the Council and its partners.
