Middlesbrough Partnership has in place a robust performance management process to meet the national performance management framework requirements.

Middlesbrough Partnership uses Accountability Sessions as a key component of its performance management framework. They provide robust accountability for the Partnership through collaboration and investigation. The Accountability Sessions provide a forum and mechanism to hold partners to account through the Action Groups.

Accountability Sessions are held twice yearly in December to report mid year progress, and in June to report end of year progress.

Accountability Sessions are held for each theme of the Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS). Each theme is represented by the Chair and Lead Officer from the relevant Action Group and also the relevant Middlesbrough Council Executive Member.

The following partners attend each Accountability Session:

• Chair of Middlesbrough Partnership
• Middlesbrough Council Chair of Overview and Scrutiny Board
• Middlesbrough Council Chief Executive (or representative)
• Community Representative from Community Cluster or Community Network
• Government Office Representative

Each Accountability Session follows a similar format and examines:

• Progress against LAA targets;
• Progress towards achieving Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) Strategic Priorities and improvement outcomes;
• The progress of all partner organisations, towards delivery against LAA targets and SCS priorities;
• How the Action Group contributes to other SCS themes and cross cutting issues for example Equality and Diversity and sustainability; and any emerging priorities.
