Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Survey 2009/10 Results


In the summer of 2009 BMG Research was commissioned to undertake a survey of Middlesbrough residents. This piece of research is the latest survey in Middlesbrough Council’s programme of resident consultation and follows on from a similar residents survey conducted in 2007. This document summarises the findings of the 2009 Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Survey conducted among 2015 local residents aged 18+ in October and November 2009. The emphasis of this report will be identifying how opinions vary between the different resident groups within the Middlesbrough population.

The aims of the survey were to assess Middlesbrough residents’ opinions of:
· Community safety;
· Community cohesion;
· Health issues;
· Usage of and satisfaction with sports and leisure facilities;
· Participation in voluntary activity;
· Climate change;
· Local transportation issues;
· Perceptions of economic regeneration; and,
· The impact of the recession.
