“Time To Change” Anti Stigma Campaign
Time to change is a national mental health anti-stigma campaign running nationally over a 5 year period from January 2009 (www.time-tochange.org.uk). This campaign is being implemented locally through a number of activities including, “lets talk” public engagement events and “get moving for mental health” activities. As part of the campaign, NHS County Durham, in partnership with PCT’s from across the North East are looking to collect and tell the stories of local people who have been touched by mental health issues to help get across the key messages of the campaign. These include:
· Everybody has mental health; these’s no health without mental health
· Mental health problems are common
· Mental health problems impact on people in many different ways
· Mental health problems effect people from all walks of life
· People can and do recover from and live well with mental health problems
· There are lots of things we can all do to help maintain positive mental health
There will be a number of options for how the stories will be used and participants will be able to opt in or out of any of the options. One of the first options will be participation in a radio campaign on Real and Smooth FM.
